For quite some time, there has been talking of an iPhone SE model with an upgraded chipset and 5G connectivity, and now the Macotakara blog in Japan is reporting that the device will re-use the iPhone SE (2020) design. This means a 4.7-inch LCD with bottom and top bezels, as well as the same old Touch-ID sensor/home button combo contained in an aluminum shell.
Like the iPhone 13 series, the third-generation SE is reported to use Apple’s latest A15 Bionic CPU and Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem. According to the current source, production for the SE 3 will begin in December 2021, and the phone will be unveiled in Spring 2022.
The redesigned SE model will serve as the pocket-friendly alternative for compact phone customers, as Apple is expected to drop its mini phone with next year’s lineup.
