The official release of Apple’s next-generation iPhone series is still months away. However, even before the iPhone 13 was released, rumors about the iPhone 14 began to circulate. We’ve already seen product mockups and other reports on aesthetics. The most recent in this series gives us our first glimpse at the iPhone 14 Pro in gold.

The iPhone 14 Pro mockups, courtesy of Pictou, show the phone from several perspectives. Before we get into the most visible design change, it’s worth noting that the new backplate is identical to the one seen on the iPhone 13 Pro (more or less.) The golden finish on the railings and the glass shell is the same.
The lightning port (no USB-C this year), microphone, speakers, and power button all have the same configuration. Apple, on the other hand, has divided the unattractive wedge notch into two floating cuts. The front camera is housed in the pinhole dot, and the sensor array for the 3D Face ID function is housed in the large pill-shaped cutout.
Don’t Miss: Best Apple iPhones
This dual-notch layout is certain to be Apple’s most divisive design decision in recent years. The bezel appears to have decreased even more, but don’t expect the iPhone’s current price to reflect this. For the primary back camera, Apple is upgrading to a 48MP picture sensor. And it supports up to 8GB of next-generation LPDDR5 memory.
Only the Pro iPhone models, however, will have the new front camera configuration. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Mini will reintroduce the original look, perhaps with a few tweaks here and there.
