Samsung Galaxy A23 to Come in 4G and 5G Editions; Packs a 50MP Camera and 5000 mAh Battery

The next generation of Samsung’s Galaxy A series will not be available until later next year. While production is still months away, the Korean phone manufacturer is already working on a few Galaxy A phones. The Galaxy A23, the follow-up to this year’s Samsung Galaxy A22, is one such phone in the works.

GalaxyClub, a Samsung-focused blog, broke the first news about the A23. According to the European publication, the Samsung Galaxy A23 is available in both LTE and 5G variants depending on the region.

Rumors on the internet suggested that the Korean phone manufacturer is abandoning 4G entirely and replacing the Galaxy A-series with next-generation 5G. However, it appears that the lower-end models will continue to use 4G chips for at least another year.

The manufacturer had to cut a lot of corners in order to ship the Samsung Galaxy A22 with 5G. The low-cost TFT and SuperAMOLED panels on the A22 5G and A22 4G stood out the most. The 8MP ultra-wide camera was also dropped. It wouldn’t be surprising if Samsung went down that path again.
The Galaxy A23 will also have a 5000 mAh battery, according to the report. Unless Samsung plans an upgrade, the A23’s charging speeds will be limited to 15W.

Until recently, Samsung’s go-to image sensor for low-cost phones was the 48MP sensor. However, it was quickly surpassed by a newly announced 50MP sensor. This image sensor is also said to be used in the Galaxy A13. Furthermore, Realme and Xiaomi have both included the same sensor in their low-end lineups.
