In Africa, Tecno released a new edition of the Pova series yesterday. The Tecno Pova 2 was extensively leaked before its introduction. As a result, the official announcement comes as no surprise.
The Tecno Pova Neo made its debut in Nigeria, one of Tecno’s most important markets. It has a large battery and fast charging, but (surprisingly) it isn’t a budget phone. Especially when Tecno’s sister company Infinix has a competing Note 11 series in a similar price range.

First and foremost, the display has a standard 720P resolution. It’s a 6.8″ IPS LCD with a snappy 120Hz touch sampling rate and a regular 60Hz refresh rate. The Infinix Note 11 has a dazzling 1080P AMOLED screen that is comparable in price.
The hardware of Tecno’s new Pova model, dubbed the Neo, tells a similar storey. Everything is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22, a low-cost budget chipset released in 2018. When compared to the contemporary Helio G88 at the heart of Note 11, the Pova Neo will reveal its age far more quickly.
On the Neo’s 6000 mAh battery, Tecno claims 17 hours of continuous gaming and 15 hours of internet browsing. Software enhancements prolong the battery life even more. When you run out of power, the Pova Neo has an 18W Flash Charge option. After 15 minutes of charging, you can receive 12 hours of music playback.
The camera setup is usual for a Tecno phone in this price range. On the back, we’ll find 13MP wide and 2MP portrait cameras. The 8MP front camera is housed in a notch on the screen. There are no sophisticated photographic features on display here.
