Samsung W22 5G officially announced in China

Samsung’s W Series, which were clamshell phones with number pads that also had full smartphone capabilities, never really made it outside of China. The Samsung W22 5G is a customized variant of the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G designed for the Chinese market. Samsung released a high-end version of the Z Fold3 with 16GB+256GB for CNY 16,999 ($2,645) in collaboration with China Telecom.

Samsung talks about the W22 5G’s craftsmanship and attractive appearance in its promotional materials.

It also has a Phantom Black finish with a textured gold spine. The “Heart to the World” logo is gold-colored to match the spine.

On paper, the W22 5G looks just like the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, which is now available and includes S Pen functionality. Google Mobile Services is not available on Chinese handsets, and they come preinstalled with region-specific apps. Importing the W22 5G for usage in Western markets is not recommended since the cellular bands may be incompatible.
