Vivo Y15s Goes Official with Barebones Features and a Budget-friendly Price

This season, Vivo appears to be churning out one Y-series phone after another. The Vivo Y15s, the latest in this line of entry-level smartphones, has just made its debut in two Asian markets: the Philippines and Singapore. Let us introduce the Vivo Y12s successor, a pocket-friendly Android phone.

The phone has a small footprint, with a body that weighs only 179g and measures 8.28mm thick. The Vivo Y15s is made of plastic and has a line texture. It is available in Wave Green and Mystic Blue. Inside the squarish camera, the bump is two lenses and an LED flash. For ease of use, the fingerprint scanner is combined with the side power button.

Aside from their appealing designs, Vivo’s low-cost phones are rarely noteworthy. The Vivo Y15s’ MediaTek Helio P35 chipset was released in 2018. As a result, it already feels out of place in 2021. This chip is powered by Android 11 Go Edition, a stripped-down version of the operating system designed for low-end hardware.

A 13MP camera with a tiny f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro camera are included in the dual camera. A selfie camera with an 8MP resolution can be found on the front. The Vivo Y15s can shoot in time-lapse, macro, and Pro modes, but the engine inside isn’t modern enough to support night mode on either camera. A 5000 mAh battery powers everything. The Y15s cannot fast charge, but it can reverse-charge other devices. The almost-obsolete micro-USB interface serves as the USB interface. The display is a standard 6.51″ IPS LCD with a 720P resolution. It is available in a single 3GB+32GB edition. The new Y15s is priced at SGD 179 (approximately Rs. 22,700) by Vivo.
